Are limiting self-beliefs, fear, a lack of willpower, and the inability to reprogram bad habits putting a limit on your success? Here’s how self-hypnosis can change that…
Is it possible to “upgrade” your mind with self-hypnosis and reprogram bad habits into good habits?
I consider myself to be a skeptical person when it comes to sensational claims. I adhere to the phrase, which I believe is credited to Carl Sagan, “Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.”
So, when I began to learn about hypnosis many years ago, I had my doubts about its real-world effectiveness. Before deciding to become a certified hypnotist, I researched the topic for several years.
What I ultimately found was that hypnosis is not only effective in creating positive change in people’s mindsets but that it is also backed by years of evidence-based research. You can read about these studies by doing a quick Google or PubMed search or by visiting: Stanford University, Scientific American, or Neuroscience of Consciousness.
What I Discovered About Self-Hypnosis
What I learned about myself during my investigation was that my mind had been programmed in many ways that would greatly limit my success in life. Over the course of years, this programming had solidified self-limiting habits into my subconscious mind that would undermine any conscious desire that I had to change them.
Once a habit has been excepted by your subconscious mind it can be extremely difficult to alter that habit.
Some of my bad habits included:
- A tenancy to procrastinate important actions that could bring about success.
- An addiction to unhealthy junk food, fast food, soda, sugar, and fatty foods.
- A habit of deciding to take just one more day off from exercising. “I’ll get started tomorrow.”
- A fear of stepping out of my comfort zone, even when I knew that doing so would increase my chance for success.
- A habitual belief that I would never become wealthy and that I was destined to remain middle-class.
At this point in my life, I was living on auto-pilot. I had no drive to achieve more than I already had. I thought to myself, “This is good enough.” But then, just to give it a shot, I tried using self-hypnosis on myself.
The results for me were not instant, but I remained persistent. I purchased several self-hypnosis audio CDs the dealt with my troubled habit areas. I was determined to see if self-hypnosis could actually reprogram my bad habits into success-producing good habits.
After two or three weeks of listening, I began to notice a difference. At first, listening to the cd’s felt like a burden, but I eventually looked forward to my listening sessions. It felt like a special time of the day where all of my focus could be just for me. It became my “Me time.”
As my bad habits changed into the habits that I actually wanted, my life began to change too. Choosing healthy foods over junk became automatic. I started taking action towards achieving more in my career, I found myself wanting to step out of my comfort zone, and my limiting beliefs about my financial situation were gone.
Self-hypnosis has made me into a new, and better version of myself. I was so pleased with the results, that I sought out a mentor to teach me hypnosis. I wanted to have the ability to share what I had learned with others and become a certified hypnotist. It was the perfect compliment to my career as an entertainer.
Self-Hypnosis worked, and still works wonders for me, BUT will it work for YOU?
The answer depends on a few things. First, in order for self-hypnosis to bring about change in your life, you must WANT that change to take place. You must have a desire to reprogram your bad habits into good ones.
If you give a “Quit Smoking with Self-Hypnosis” download to a smoker who doesn’t want to quit smoking…it’s not going to work. You must actually want the change to occur in order for it to be effective.
The second requirement is that you must commit to actually using the self-hypnosis product. If I had only listened to my cd’s once, I would not have transformed my life. It took me several weeks to notice the effects.
Several months of listening may be required for some and for others it may happen quickly. It depends on how hardwired the bad habit or limiting belief is in your mind. But, if you desire the change to occur and you’re persistent with listening to the track, then I believe that self-hypnosis can be your secret weapon for success.
